I've owned ferrets since I was 11 years old. My first ferrets name was "Hershey". He was a sable male.
Hershey died when he was only 3 months old from distemper. A very deadly disease that kills within a few weeks of contracting
the virus. There is a way to prevent this disease by taking your ferret to the vet yearly for his shots. Unforutnaly, he already
had the disease when I bought him. Ever since then, I have avoided Petco when looking for a quality/healthy ferret.
Over the years i've had over 20 ferrets. They are by far the best pet out there.
I own 7 ferrets. I enjoy taking my ferrets to shows twice a year and entering them into fun competitions
at ferret frolics once a year. Events include: Tunnel Race, Yawning Contest, Digging Contest, Cup Tipping
Contest, Obstactle Course and Kissing Contest. These contests are designed to challenge what ferrets do naturally.
Such as tipping garbage cans over and racing through tunnels. The ferret shows I attend are in Couer d'alene , Idaho.
My ferrets have won numerous championchips inlcuding 2 Best In Class and 2 Best In Opposite.
My ferrets do not live in cages, they live in a insulated shed thats 8x6ft. Its got windows on all 4 sides
to ensure they get the proper lighting for coat health and a overall healthy lifestyle. For nightime, the
shed is fully lighted. It includes climbing posts, tunnels and digging boxes. The ferts get put in playpen
for 5-6 hours a day that is 8x8. It is also full of climbing toys, tunnels and digging boxes. I make sure
to keep them all entertained and in good shape.
Ferrets are fascinating creatures that require alot of time, dedication and a prepared saving account. They
are not by all means easy to take care off nor cheap to own. Please look through my website and decide wether or not
this is the right pet for you.
